Rekuram Varadharaj, or “RV” as he is known to all, is the Co-founder and COO at healthi, India’s
fastest growing preventive healthcare company. At healthi, RV leads sales, marketing and user
experience and delight.
RV is a serial entrepreneur/intrepreneur with global experience in building and scaling out
ventures. Immediately prior to healthi, he held various marketing and sales leadership roles at
Dell. He led demand-generation and marketing communications planning for Dell’s Consumer
and SMB business units across Asia-Pacific and Japan. He also played a key role in Dell vaulting
to a leadership position in the SMB and Enterprise segments while heading India SMB sales and
He started his professional career in 2000 as an early member and lead of the product
development team at Sylantro Systems Corp, a Silicon Valley based pioneer in VoIP telecom
solutions whose solutions are deployed by over 100 major telecom companies across the
world. Sylantro eventually merged with Broadsoft, which went public (NASDAQ:BSFT).
In 2003, he pitched an idea to found a VoIP product development venture and relocated to
Bangalore to build it out. He quickly grew the venture into a 40-member strong team
developing industry-leading VoIP solutions. The venture was acquired by Sylantro, his first
employer, to become its Indian subsidiary. RV went on to lead Customer Operations and
Business Development for Asia-Pacific at Sylantro in 2005-2006. In this capacity, he built and led
a geographically dispersed team of sales and post-sales delivery teams in Singapore, S. Korea
and Shanghai that helped several telecom carriers roll out VoIP and converged telecom services
across the region.
Post MBA, RV was a Management Consultant at the London offices of L.E.K. Consulting, a highly
renowned boutique strategy and management consulting firm where he advised clients in the
travel, leisure and finance sectors on marketing and growth strategies.
RV holds an MBA with distinction from INSEAD (France and Singapore) where he was an Asia
Enterprise Fund scholarship recipient. He also has an MS in Computer Science from the
University of Maryland where he was a research scholar and co-authored refereed IEEE
publications and conference presentations on high-speed computer network management and
RV is passionate about the transformative power of technology and is now trying to teach his
son to program computers. In addition to working hard to balance the demands of an early
stage venture with his love for traveling with his wife and son, he also tries to balance his love
for good food with his interest in fitness.
